Very Rare & Highly Collectable Bosconian Video Game In Awesome Condition!

This is a rare find indeed!  Here is a 1981 Midway Game called Bosconian.  Bosconian was another in a long line of games in the partnership of Namco and Midway. Bosconian took the space theme and created something a little more quickly paced. It was the first game to feature the continue function.  This enabled players to go as far as they wanted as long as they had the quarters. 

Bosconian is a two-dimensional arcade shooter style game. You are responsible for destroying all the space stations during a round. To frustrate your attempts are enemy fighters, space debris, enemy formations, and the space stations themselves. If you make it through that round, many more await you.  After the first 10,000 points and every 50,000 after that, you are awarded an extra ship.  Being an intergalactic hero isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

The game itself never quite gained a real wide following since other Namco/Midway games.  And speaking of which you'll notice a similarity between Bosconian and another famous game called Galaga.  You will notice many similar elements on the screen, the background stars for instance.  That's because they were both produced using the same boards and when Galaga became more popular, most of the resources were diverted to producing more of those cabinets, making Bosconain even more rare and more collectable!

This is one of the early talking games and features synthesized voice messages: "Blast Off!" (start of round), "Alert! Alert!" (enemy ships approaching), "Battle stations!" (enemy formation attack), "Spy ship sighted" (green triangular bonus enemy), and "Condition Red!" (time-per level exceeded, enemy frenzy).

The cabinet on this game is in very good condition.  There is a small area on the lower right rear where a crocodile or something took a small bite, but otherwise the cabinet is solid and I put a little white paint over the 'bite mark' so it's not too noticeable.  The decals on all sides are looking good!  The monitor looks great, just the way I remembered it in 1981. 

The reason that no wear is present around the buttons or joystick is that I tracked down a new control panel overlay and replaced it, so it is now perfect!

Overall, this game is in very good condition and would make a great addition to any game room, will be enjoyed by you and your family for many years to come and officially became an antique upon its 25th anniversary in 2006!
